Film and television has created what is called the “CSI Effect” for courtrooms and juries practically expect to be wowed and entertained by litigation demonstratives. ION Medical Designs excels at generating these types of graphics and experiences whether they be compelling and accurate medical illustrations or state-of-the-art augmented/ virtual reality to show juries an injury or vantage point. For this interactive demonstrative I utilized optimized skeletal geometry and modeled the surgical hardware in Maya in-line with operative reports. The client wanted to showcase the amount of screws utilized and the process in an animated sequence that plays on tap of the screen. The augmented reality portion was done in Unity for tap-to-place in the environment and custom controls were added to enable various viewing options in the event that users were unable to get up and move around the augmented visualization.
